Each swap page and coin page on HiddenSwap mixes two kinds of information: numbers we record ourselves, and notes drafted with the help of AI tools from public sources. This page explains both.
Quotes we record
Every 15 minutes, our system requests live quotes for each pair we publish:
- a floating quote for a standard amount, such as 1 XMR, 0.01 BTC or 500 USDT;
- floating quotes for a few other amounts, which fill the amount tables;
- fixed quotes for the standard amount and five times that amount, when fixed rates are offered for the pair;
- the current minimum and maximum amounts.
These are quotes, not trades and not market prices. Each figure on a page shows the time it was checked, in UTC. The swap box on the same page asks for a fresh quote when you use it, so the number you swap at can differ from the recorded one.
How the figures are calculated
- Amount you get. The figure after the payout fee, as it was quoted.
- Rate before the payout fee. Our calculation: the amount you get plus the payout fee, divided by the amount you send. We show it because the payout fee does not grow in step with the amount, so the net rate changes with the size of the swap.
- Payout fee share. The payout fee as a share of the amount before that fee.
- History. The median of each hour’s recorded rates. The high, low and change for a period are shown only when we recorded at least 80% of that period. If our standard amount for a pair changes, the history starts again, so old and new figures are never mixed.
- Fixed compared with floating. The difference between a fixed and a floating quote made in the same run. We show it only after at least 50 such pairs of quotes in 30 days.
Figures from real swaps
Pages can show a test swap made by our team, with the amount sent, the estimate shown, the amount received and the time from deposit to payout. It is one swap, not an average.
Once a pair has at least 20 completed swaps in 90 days, its page can show the median time from deposit to payout and the share of swaps that completed. These figures are rounded to 5 minutes, published at least 7 days later and never linked to a single order.
Written notes
The notes on sending and receiving each coin, the address formats, network facts, the guides and the questions are drafted with the help of AI tools from primary sources, such as the project’s own documentation and block explorers. Each page lists the sources it uses and shows when it was last updated.
Before a page is published, automated checks run on it: every page needs listed sources, titles and descriptions must fit the rules, pages may not repeat each other, and banned claims, such as promises of total anonymity or of the lowest price, are rejected. Every number on a page comes from quotes our server recorded, with the time it was recorded.
We do not publish price forecasts or investment advice. Other exchanges are named only in the delisting tracker and in comparison guides, and every fact about them has a source.
Editorial policy
- Byline. Guides and hub pages are written and kept up to date by HiddenSwap Research, the team at HiddenSwap that works on our guides, data pages and trackers. We sign as a team, not with personal names, and we do not invent authors.
- AI tools. The written notes and guides are drafted with the help of AI tools, from the sources each page lists. The numbers never come from AI tools: they come from quotes our server recorded.
- Dates. Each guide shows when it was published and when it was last reviewed. A review means we checked the page again against its sources and corrected what changed. We review each guide at least every six months, and sooner when a source it relies on changes, such as a network upgrade or a new delisting notice.
- Corrections. If you find a mistake, write to contact@hiddenswap.com with the page and what is wrong. We correct the page and its date.
Swap statistics
Our swap statistics are daily figures made from the same recorded quotes. They are our quotes, not market prices and not completed swaps.
- Sampling. Every 15 minutes our system requests live quotes for each pair we publish, for its reverse direction and for the pairs the coin pages use. All quotes from one check share one time.
- Amounts. For each published pair we ask for the standard amount, 5 and 20 times that amount, and a small amount of about 3 times the minimum, leaving out amounts outside the current minimum and maximum. Fixed quotes are asked for the standard amount and 5 times it. Reverse directions and coin page pairs get the standard amount only. The statistics use the standard amount.
- Rate before the payout fee. The amount you get plus the payout fee, divided by the amount you send.
- Time. Every quote is stored with its time in UTC. A day runs from 00:00 to 24:00 UTC, and the statistics count whole days only.
- What counts as a check. A check counts when a quote request gets an answer: a quote, or a reply that the pair or the fixed rate is not available. Failed requests, such as a timeout or a rate limit, do not count. For floating quotes, an amount outside the current minimum and maximum does not count either. For fixed quotes, it counts as a check without a fixed quote.
- Limits. A high, low and change for a period need at least 80% of its hours recorded and the same standard amount throughout. Fixed compared with floating needs at least 50 pairs of quotes from the same check. The share of checks that returned a quote, and the medians of the payout fee and of the time estimate, need at least 96 checks or quotes. Swap outcomes need at least 20 completed swaps. Below a limit, we show no figure.
- How long we keep the records. Single quotes for 35 days, hourly figures for 100 days, and daily figures for as long as the site runs.
- Corrections. If you think a figure is wrong, write to contact@hiddenswap.com with the figure and the date. We check it against our records and correct the page if we made a mistake.
