    Before you swap

Sending from an exchange account? Fill the refund field with a Tron address you control. With the field empty, a refund goes back to the sending address, and the exchange owns that address. Sending from your own Tron wallet? Check that it has TRX or energy for the transfer. Until the XMR goes out, our liquidity partner keeps the USDT at its deposit address.

How to swap USDT (TRC-20) to XMR

    1. Enter an amount of at least 22.0321 USDT (TRC-20) and paste your XMR address on Monero.

    2. Send the exact amount in one transaction from Tron to the deposit address shown after you start. Sending from your own wallet? Keep some TRX in it to pay the Tron network fee.

    3. Tron adds a block about 3 seconds on average. Our partner decides how many confirmations to wait for, and the order page shows each step.

    4. Your XMR is sent to your address. Your wallet can spend it after 10 blocks.

Monero to Tether on Tron swap

Why people swap Tether on Tron to Monero

    Starting from an exchange withdrawal

If your USDT on Tron is in an exchange account, this swap starts on the exchange’s withdrawal screen. Pick Tron (TRC-20) as the network. Paste the deposit address shown on your order, then check it against the order page.

You need no TRX for this step. The transfer comes from the exchange’s own address, so the network cost falls on that address. The exchange may still charge a withdrawal fee of its own. Fill in the refund field as well, with an address from your own Tron wallet. If it stays empty, a refund goes back to the exchange’s address, and the exchange decides whether you ever see it.

Sending from your own Tron wallet

Here you pay the network yourself, in energy and bandwidth. Our Tether (USDT) coin page explains how Tron charges for a USDT transfer and why energy has no free allowance. Three details matter at the moment you send.

First, the energy a transfer uses is not fixed. Under Tron’s dynamic energy model, a heavily used contract costs more energy per call, and the Tron docs name stablecoin contracts among them. An estimate from last week may be too low today.

Second, the fee limit caps what the call may spend on energy. A transfer that reaches it reverts with OUT_OF_ENERGY. The USDT stays in your wallet, but the energy or TRX used up to that point is gone.

Third, the energy does not have to be yours. Another account can delegate energy to your address. It keeps its own staked TRX and can take the energy back later.

For USDT on Ethereum, see USDT (ERC-20) to XMR. Our guide to both USDT networks sets the two side by side.

    What you accept

The XMR goes to a Monero address from your own wallet (how Monero privacy works). Between your deposit and the payout, the USDT sits at a deposit address our liquidity partner controls. A screening check may pause the swap, as Risk and screening describes. A floating quote is not locked, so the XMR amount can move until your deposit confirms, and a failed first transfer makes that wait longer. The way back is XMR to USDT (TRC-20).

Sending USDT (TRC-20) and receiving XMR

    Sending USDT (TRC-20)

Send USDT on the Tron network only. Your wallet or exchange must show Tron or TRC-20 as the network. The sending address also needs TRX, because Tron charges for token transfers in energy and bandwidth, not in USDT.

    • Keep some TRX in the sending address. A USDT transfer uses energy, and energy has no free quota. Without energy or TRX to burn, the transfer cannot be paid.
    • If you send from an exchange account, add a refund address that you control. A refund to an exchange deposit address may not reach you.

    Receiving XMR (Monero)

Give a Monero address from a wallet you control. A subaddress starts with 8 and a standard address starts with 4. Both have 95 characters. Received XMR stays locked for 10 confirmations, about 20 minutes, before you can spend it.

    • Use a new subaddress for each swap. A fresh subaddress makes it hard for the sender to link your payouts to each other.
    • New XMR shows in your total balance first. It moves to your unlocked balance after 10 confirmations.

    USDT (TRC-20) to XMR questions

Questions about Monero itself, such as legality and delistings, are answered in our Monero (XMR) coin guide

Do I need TRX if I withdraw the USDT from an exchange?

No. The exchange's own address makes the transfer, so the network cost falls on that address. The exchange may charge its own withdrawal fee. Choose Tron (TRC-20) as the withdrawal network, and fill in a refund address from a Tron wallet you hold.

My Tron wallet says the USDT transfer failed. What now?

Your USDT did not move, so the order still waits for it. Look at energy first. When a transfer lacks energy, or reaches its fee limit, Tron reverts it. If it reached the chain, the energy or TRX it used is still charged. Add TRX or energy, then send again to the same deposit address before the order expires.

What is the fee limit on a Tron transfer?

It is the most a smart contract call may spend on energy, and a USDT transfer is such a call. If the transfer would need more, it reverts with OUT_OF_ENERGY. The energy used up to that point is still charged, and your USDT stays in your wallet. Keep the fee limit your wallet suggests unless you know why to change it.

Why does my USDT transfer need more energy than last time?

Tron has a dynamic energy model. When a contract has used a lot of energy recently, each call to it costs more energy, up to a set maximum. The Tron docs name stablecoin contracts among those it is meant for. So check the estimate in your wallet each time you send.

Can another account give me energy for the transfer?

Yes. Another Tron account can delegate energy to your address, and you use it without staking TRX yourself. That account keeps its staked TRX. It can take the energy back later, unless it set a lock period.

Should I split the USDT into smaller transfers to save energy?

No. Each order accepts one deposit, so send the full amount in one transfer, as our Terms ask. Every USDT transfer is its own contract call, so two transfers also use energy twice.
