Why people swap Ethereum to Tether on Tron
Why the USDT is paid on Tron
ETH moves with the market. USDT is a token that Tether pegs to the US dollar. Some ETH holders move part of their balance into USDT to keep a dollar value while they stay in crypto. Others need USDT because someone they pay asks for it on Tron. This page pays the USDT out on Tron, which suits you when the next wallet, app or person in line accepts TRC-20.
That choice changes the address you give. Your Ethereum wallet shows a 0x address, and USDT on Ethereum would land there. A Tron payout needs a Tron address instead, which starts with T and has 34 characters. A 0x address cannot receive this payout. If you want USDT on Ethereum, pick USDT (ERC-20) in the swap form. It also changes the coin you pay fees in. On Ethereum you pay gas in ETH. On Tron, moving the USDT later uses energy and bandwidth, which come from staked TRX or from TRX the network burns. Your ETH cannot pay for that, so plan to add TRX to the Tron address before you move the USDT on.
Sending the ETH
Send native ETH on Ethereum mainnet, from a regular wallet, in one transaction. A layer 2 network shows the same 0x address, but it is a separate network, and ETH sent there does not reach the deposit address. Deposits sent from smart contracts are not processed automatically. Gas is paid in ETH on top of the amount, so you cannot swap the full balance of a wallet. Leave enough for gas, and on a fixed quote send exactly the amount shown. What you take on with USDT
ETH has no issuer. USDT does, and Tether’s terms let it freeze tokens and blacklist addresses, as our Tether (USDT) coin page explains. A dollar value only holds for as long as the peg does.
Between your deposit and the USDT payout, the ETH is not in your wallet. On a floating quote, the USDT amount can move until your deposit confirms.
Sending ETH and receiving USDT (TRC-20)
Sending ETH (Ethereum)
Send ETH on Ethereum mainnet, in one transaction, to the deposit address of your order. Check the network in your wallet first. The same 0x address also exists on layer 2 networks, but those are different networks.
- Keep extra ETH for gas. The fee is paid in ETH on top of the amount you send.
- Send a plain transfer from a regular wallet. Deposits sent from smart contracts, including batched transfers, are not processed automatically.
Receiving USDT (TRC-20)
You receive USDT (TRC-20) at a Tron address that starts with T. Use an address from a wallet that shows Tron tokens. Tron transfers have no memo field, so none is needed. The sender pays the transfer cost, so you need no TRX to receive USDT. You will need TRX to send it later.
- Do not give the USDT token contract address or an address that starts with 0x. Neither can receive USDT on Tron for you.
- If an exchange account receives the USDT, check that it accepts USDT on Tron (TRC-20) at that address.

Can I get the USDT at my Ethereum 0x address?
Not from this swap. The payout is sent on Tron, and only a Tron address can receive it. A 0x address belongs to Ethereum and other EVM networks. For USDT at your 0x address, choose USDT (ERC-20) as the coin you get instead.

How much USDT do I get for my ETH?
The top of this page shows our latest recorded quote with its date and the payout fee. The amount table shows what other ETH amounts got at that time. On a floating quote, your amount is set when your deposit confirms, so it can differ from these figures.
Can I swap all the ETH in my wallet?
Not all of it. The deposit pays gas in ETH on top of the amount you send, so some ETH has to stay behind. Enter an amount that leaves room for gas. A fixed quote holds only for the exact amount shown, and a deposit that differs may run at the floating rate or be refunded.
Do I need TRX to receive the USDT?
No. The sender pays for the transfer, so the payout arrives without any TRX. You need TRX later to move the USDT, because Tron charges for token transfers in energy and bandwidth. A new Tron address also becomes active only when it receives TRX or a TRC-10 token, and receiving USDT does not do that.
The USDT shows on Tronscan but not in my wallet. What now?
Check that your wallet shows TRC-20 tokens on Tron and lists USDT with the contract Tether publishes, TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t. Do not add a token that only has the same name. If Tronscan shows the payout at your address, the USDT is there.
Can I swap ETH to USDT without KYC?
Yes. No account, email or ID is needed, so you swap anonymously. You paste a Tron address for the USDT and send ETH from a regular wallet. A Tron address with no past activity keeps the payout apart from your older transfers.
