Holding USDT on Tron (address starts with T)? Swap USDT (TRC-20) to XMRTRC-20 or ERC-20?
Before you swap
Set your wallet to the Ethereum network before you send. The deposit address uses the 0x format, which other EVM networks share, and USDT sent on any of them does not reach this swap. Keep ETH in the sending wallet for gas. Until your XMR is sent, our liquidity partner has the USDT. A screening check may hold the swap, and a floating quote may shift before your deposit confirms.

How to swap USDT (ERC-20) to XMR
Enter an amount of at least 11.2124 USDT (ERC-20) and paste your XMR address on Monero.
Send the exact amount in one transaction from Ethereum to the deposit address shown after you start. Sending from your own wallet? Keep some ETH in it to pay the Ethereum network fee.
Ethereum adds a block about 12 seconds on average. Our partner decides how many confirmations to wait for, and the order page shows each step.
Your XMR is sent to your address. Your wallet can spend it after 10 blocks.

Why people swap Tether on Ethereum to Monero
USDT in a wallet you run yourself
This page is for USDT held on Ethereum in a browser, phone or hardware wallet. The deposit is an ERC-20 token transfer, and Ethereum bills it in gas, paid in ETH only. So the wallet needs ETH next to the USDT, or the deposit cannot leave it. Our Tether (USDT) coin page explains how the network charges for a USDT transfer. Check the estimate in your wallet before you open an order.
Leaving a DeFi app
USDT in a lending pool or a liquidity position is held by that app’s contract, not by your address. Withdraw it to your wallet and wait until the balance shows. Then send the deposit as a plain transfer to the address on your order. This step needs no token approval. If a site asks you to approve a spender to make this deposit, stop and check the page you are on.
Where the address comes from
Your wallet history can be turned against you. In address poisoning, someone sends a zero or tiny token transfer from an address that starts and ends like one you have used. The hope is that you copy their address from your history later. So take the deposit address from your order page only, and compare all of it after you paste.
Many wallets reuse one 0x address on other EVM networks, and each network keeps its own balances. Confirm that your wallet is set to Ethereum before you send. If your USDT is on Tron, use USDT (TRC-20) to XMR. The TRC-20 vs ERC-20 guide sets the two side by side.
What you accept
The payout lands in your Monero wallet (what Monero hides). Until then, the USDT is in the hands of our liquidity partner, at its own deposit address. A screening check can hold the swap, and Risk and screening lists the steps after a hold. A floating quote is an estimate that can move while your Ethereum deposit waits for confirmation.

Sending USDT (ERC-20) and receiving XMR
Sending USDT (ERC-20)
Send USDT on Ethereum mainnet only. Your wallet or exchange must show Ethereum or ERC-20 as the network. The sending wallet also needs ETH, because every transfer on Ethereum pays gas in ETH, including token transfers.
- Pick Ethereum (ERC-20) in your wallet or in the exchange withdrawal form. Other EVM networks use the same address format, but USDT sent on them stays on those networks and does not reach this deposit.
- Send only to the deposit address shown for your swap. Never send to the USDT token contract, 0xdAC17F958D2ee523a2206206994597C13D831ec7. Tokens sent to a contract that cannot handle them can be lost for good.
Receiving XMR (Monero)
Give a Monero address from a wallet you control. A subaddress starts with 8 and a standard address starts with 4. Both have 95 characters. Received XMR stays locked for 10 confirmations, about 20 minutes, before you can spend it.
- Use a new subaddress for each swap. A fresh subaddress makes it hard for the sender to link your payouts to each other.
- A view-only wallet shows incoming XMR but cannot reliably show spent coins. Check your balance in the wallet that holds your spend key.
USDT (ERC-20) to XMR questions
Questions about Monero itself, such as legality and delistings, are answered in our Monero (XMR) coin guide
Can my USDT pay the Ethereum network fee?
Not from a regular wallet. Ethereum charges gas in ETH, and a USDT transfer is a transaction that needs gas like any other. Put some ETH in the wallet that holds the USDT before you open the order.
My USDT is in a DeFi app. Can I send it to the deposit address from there?
Withdraw it to your own wallet first, and wait until the balance shows there. Then send a plain USDT transfer from that wallet to the deposit address. The deposit then comes from an address you control, which matters if a refund ever goes back to the sender.
Do I need to approve a contract to send USDT here?
No. The deposit is a normal token transfer from your address to the deposit address. An approval is a different action. It lets another address spend your tokens later, up to a set amount. No step of this swap asks for one.
My Ethereum transaction failed. Did I lose the gas?
If it was included in a block, yes. Ethereum undoes a failed transaction, but the gas it used is still paid. A transfer that runs out of gas uses up all the gas it was given. Your USDT stays in your wallet. Check your ETH balance and the gas limit, then send again before the order expires.
A zero-value USDT transfer appeared in my wallet history. What is it?
It is probably address poisoning. A scammer sends a zero or tiny token transfer from an address that starts and ends like one you used. If you later copy an address from your history, you may copy theirs. Always take the deposit address from your order page, and check it in full.
I use one wallet on several EVM networks. What should I check?
Look at the network switch before you press send. A wallet built for Ethereum uses one 0x address across many EVM networks, yet each network keeps its own balances. This order watches Ethereum only and does not see USDT sent anywhere else. If it already happened, send support your order ID and the hash of that transfer.
