Why people swap USD Coin on Ethereum to Monero
From a dollar token with an issuer to a coin without one
USDC is a token that Circle issues on Ethereum and pegs to the US dollar. Under its USDC terms, Circle can block an address and freeze the USDC held there. Monero has no issuer, and no one can freeze XMR at an address. Its transactions do not show amounts or addresses on the public chain (how Monero privacy works). Its price moves with the market, while USDC is meant to stay near one dollar.
People make this swap when they want to hold part of their savings in a coin with no issuer, or to pay someone who asks for XMR. This page does not tell you which one to hold.
