Move USDT from Ethereum (ERC-20) to Tron (TRC-20)
On , our floating quote for 500 USDT (ERC-20) was 489.7685 USDT (TRC-20) after a 5.4089 USDT (TRC-20) payout fee.
No account and no ID to start. Some swaps are held for checks, and residents of some countries may be asked to verify. How screening works
Before you swap
Hold some ETH next to your USDT on Ethereum, because the deposit pays gas in ETH. After the payout, your Tron address needs TRX before that USDT can move on. Until the USDT on Tron is sent, the deposit sits with our liquidity partner. A screening check may hold the order, and a floating quote keeps moving until the deposit confirms.

How to move USDT from Ethereum to Tron
Enter an amount of at least 12.9939 USDT (ERC-20) and paste your USDT address on Tron.
Send the exact amount in one transaction from Ethereum to the deposit address shown after you start. Sending from your own wallet? Keep some ETH in it to pay the Ethereum network fee.
Ethereum adds a block about 12 seconds on average. Our partner decides how many confirmations to wait for, and the order page shows each step.
Your USDT is sent to your address.

Why people move USDT from Ethereum to Tron
Where Ethereum USDT usually comes from
Your USDT sits on an Ethereum address. It may be left over from an Ethereum app, or it came to you as an ERC-20 payment. Now a person or a service asks you for USDT on Tron. The two versions live on separate chains, so the USDT has to be swapped from one to the other.
Others already hold TRX, or plan to stake it. On Tron, staked TRX gives the energy and bandwidth that token transfers use, so they would rather move their USDT there than keep paying gas in ETH. Our USDT on TRC-20 vs ERC-20 guide weighs the two networks.
Checks on the Ethereum side
The deposit is an ERC-20 transfer, so the sending address needs ETH for gas. Send it from a regular wallet address. Our Terms say deposits sent from smart contracts are not processed automatically, so move USDT out of a smart contract wallet first.
Check the token before you send. Any contract can give its token the name USDT. Your wallet or Etherscan shows the contract address, and it must match the one Tether lists for Ethereum. Our Tether (USDT) coin page covers gas in ETH and fake USDT tokens.
What the Tron address needs afterwards
The USDT arrives at your Tron address, which starts with T. If you already use MetaMask for Ethereum, it can hold a Tron account too, with its own T address. Do not paste your 0x address.
The payout needs nothing from that address. Moving the USDT on is different, because a TRC-20 transfer uses energy. A new Tron account must also be activated with TRX before it can be used. So add TRX to the address early, not at the moment you need to send.
No bridge contract takes part in this move. Your USDT goes to a deposit address run by our liquidity partner, which then pays out the USDT on Tron. Until that payout, you depend on the partner. Deposits are screened, and a flagged swap stays on hold until the check ends. See Risk and screening. With a floating quote, the Tron amount is not final while the Ethereum deposit waits for confirmation.
Sending USDT (ERC-20) and receiving USDT (TRC-20)
Sending USDT (ERC-20)
Send USDT on Ethereum mainnet only. Your wallet or exchange must show Ethereum or ERC-20 as the network. The sending wallet also needs ETH, because every transfer on Ethereum pays gas in ETH, including token transfers.
- Check the deposit address before you confirm. An Ethereum address has 42 characters and starts with 0x. Compare the full address with the one on your order page. A mixed-case address carries an EIP-55 checksum. Wallets that check it catch almost every typo.
- Send real USDT. The token in your wallet must use the contract Tether lists for Ethereum. A token called USDT from any other contract is not USDT.
Receiving USDT (TRC-20)
You receive USDT (TRC-20) at a Tron address that starts with T. Use an address from a wallet that shows Tron tokens. Tron transfers have no memo field, so none is needed. The sender pays the transfer cost, so you need no TRX to receive USDT. You will need TRX to send it later.
- Do not give the USDT token contract address or an address that starts with 0x. Neither can receive USDT on Tron for you.
- If the payout shows on Tronscan but not in your wallet, check that your wallet shows TRC-20 tokens and lists USDT with the contract Tether publishes.

Avoid these mistakes
- A wallet usually shows the same 0x address on Ethereum, on layer 2 networks and on other EVM networks. The balances are separate. Check that your wallet is set to Ethereum mainnet before you send. Coins sent on another network stay on that network.
- Gas on Ethereum is paid in ETH. This includes ERC-20 token transfers. Keep some ETH in a regular sending wallet, or the transfer cannot be sent.
- Contract accounts are run by code, not by a private key. When a contract sends ETH, the transfer happens inside another transaction. Block explorers list it as an internal transaction under that transaction's hash. Deposits sent from smart contracts are not processed automatically, so send from a regular wallet.
- If you send from an exchange account, a refund to the sending address may not reach you. Give a refund address that you control.
USDT (ERC-20) to USDT (TRC-20) questions
Is moving USDT from ERC-20 to TRC-20 here the same as using a bridge?
No. No bridge contract is involved. Your USDT on Ethereum goes to a deposit address held by our liquidity partner, which then sends USDT on Tron to the address you gave. Tether issues USDT on both networks.
Why do I get less USDT on Tron than I send on Ethereum?
The Tron payout comes after our partner's payout fee, and your quote shows that fee before you send. Separately, your wallet pays Ethereum gas in ETH to send the deposit, on top of the USDT amount.
Can I receive the TRC-20 USDT in MetaMask?
Yes. MetaMask supports Tron and can hold TRX and USDT on Tron. Give the address of your Tron account, which starts with T, not your 0x Ethereum address. MetaMask notes that a new Tron account must be activated with a small amount of TRX before it can be used.
Will I need TRX once the USDT is on Tron?
Not to receive it. You need TRX to move it later. A TRC-20 transfer uses bandwidth and energy, and energy has no free quota. If you have no staked or delegated energy, TRX in the address is burned to cover it.
How do I check that my ERC-20 USDT is the real Tether token?
Open the token in your wallet or on Etherscan and read its contract address. Tether lists 0xdAC17F958D2ee523a2206206994597C13D831ec7 for USDT on Ethereum. A token named USDT with any other contract is not Tether's USDT. Use that address only to check. Never send USDT to it.
My USDT is in a smart contract wallet. Can it pay the deposit?
Not automatically. Our Terms ask for deposits from a regular wallet, because deposits sent from smart contracts are not processed automatically. Move the USDT to a regular wallet address first, keep some ETH there for gas, and send the deposit from that address.
