    Before you swap

Send native ETH on the Ethereum network, from a regular wallet. WETH and ETH on a layer 2 network are not native ETH on Ethereum, and help with a wrong deposit is not guaranteed. Deposits sent from smart contracts are not processed automatically. Our liquidity partner holds your ETH until your BTC is sent.

Our quotes, not guarantees. Recorded 17 Sep 2026, 18:15 UTC. The payout fee is already taken off. It depends on the network and can change with the amount, and it takes a bigger share of small swaps. Fixed and floating quotes are separate offers, and either can be higher.

How to swap ETH to BTC

    1. Enter an amount of at least 0.001941 ETH and paste your BTC address on Bitcoin.

    2. Send the exact amount in one transaction from Ethereum to the deposit address shown after you start.

    3. Ethereum adds a block about 12 seconds on average. Our partner decides how many confirmations to wait for, and the order page shows each step.

    4. Your BTC is sent to your address.

Why people swap Ethereum to Bitcoin

    Native ETH only

This page takes ETH itself, sent on Ethereum. WETH can look the same in a wallet, but it is an ERC-20 token. A smart contract mints it when someone deposits ETH into that contract, and gives the ETH back when the WETH is redeemed. Unwrap any WETH before you start. Keep some ETH aside as well. The deposit pays its gas in ETH, and WETH cannot pay gas natively.

From one balance to separate outputs

On Ethereum, your ETH is one balance on one address. Bitcoin keeps no balances. It tracks unspent outputs, and the BTC from this swap arrives as one new output. Your wallet adds up all your outputs and shows the total.

Those pieces matter when you spend. Bitcoin fees follow the size of a transaction, and a payment that uses several outputs is larger, as our Bitcoin (BTC) coin page explains. So many small swaps into one wallet can make later payments from it cost more than one larger swap would.

A bc1 address also has a case rule. Wallets show it in small letters, and the standard asks for capitals inside QR codes. Both forms are valid. A copy that mixes capitals and small letters is not. Copy the address from your wallet instead of typing it.

Why move from ETH to BTC

Some people want part of their holdings on Bitcoin, which has its own chain and its own wallets. Others are leaving Ethereum apps and want the value in a coin they keep somewhere else. Others follow the ETH/BTC ratio before they decide.

The move has costs and risks beyond the quote. The deposit itself pays Ethereum gas. Your ETH stays with our liquidity partner until the BTC goes out. The partner may stop a swap for checks, as Risk and screening describes. On a floating quote, the BTC figure stays an estimate until your deposit confirms.

    Sending ETH and receiving BTC

    Sending ETH (Ethereum)

Send ETH on Ethereum mainnet, in one transaction, to the deposit address of your order. Check the network in your wallet first. The same 0x address also exists on layer 2 networks, but those are different networks.

    • Send a plain transfer from a regular wallet. Deposits sent from smart contracts, including batched transfers, are not processed automatically.
    • If you send from an exchange account, add a refund address that you control. A refund to the exchange's sending address may not reach you.

    Receiving BTC (Bitcoin)

Give a Bitcoin address from a wallet you control. It can start with 1, 3, bc1q or bc1p. A BTC payout does not use a memo or tag, so the address is all you need. Your BTC arrives on the Bitcoin network only.

    • Use a new receive address for each swap. A reused address links your payments together on the public ledger.
    • Your wallet may show the payment as unconfirmed at first. A new block comes about every 10 minutes on average, but the time varies.

    ETH to BTC questions

How do I swap ETH to BTC?

Unwrap any WETH to ETH first, and keep some ETH aside for gas. Set your wallet to Ethereum, not a layer 2 network. Enter the Bitcoin address that should get the BTC, then send native ETH from a regular wallet to the deposit address on your order page, in one transaction. Keep your order ID to follow the swap.

My wallet shows WETH. Can I swap it here?

Not as it is. WETH is an ERC-20 token that stands for ETH, not native ETH. Unwrap it to ETH in your wallet, then start the swap.

Can I pay the gas for my deposit with WETH?

No. Gas on Ethereum is paid in ETH, and WETH cannot pay it natively. Keep enough ETH in the wallet for the deposit and its gas.

Can I send the ETH from a layer 2 network?

No. Send it on Ethereum. Your wallet may show the same 0x address on layer 2 networks, but each of those is a separate network. ETH sent there does not count as a deposit on Ethereum.

Does a rising ETH/BTC ratio mean I get more BTC?

For the same amount of ETH, yes. The ratio is the value of one ether counted in bitcoin, so a higher ratio means each ether is worth more BTC. What you actually get also depends on the payout fee and, on a floating quote, on the rate when your deposit confirms.

Will my BTC arrive as one balance, like my ETH?

Your wallet shows a total. Underneath, the BTC from this swap is its own unspent output at your address. The wallet combines outputs when you send later.

Can I type my Bitcoin address in capital letters?

An address that starts with bc1 is valid in all small letters or all capitals, but never in a mix of both. Wallets usually show it in small letters. Copy and paste it instead of typing it.
