The USDC is paid on Ethereum, so give a 0x address, not a Bitcoin address. To move the USDC later, that address needs some ETH for gas. Pick a Bitcoin fee rate that fits current demand. Until the USDC is sent, the BTC waits at the deposit address of your order.

Why people swap Bitcoin to USD Coin on Ethereum

From bitcoin to a dollar token on Ethereum

Bitcoin has no issuer, and its price moves with the market. USDC is a token that Circle issues and pegs to the US dollar. People make this swap to keep part of their bitcoin at a steady dollar value, or because an app or person they pay next asks for USDC. This page does not tell you which coin to hold.

Two things change when you make the move. First, under its USDC terms, Circle can block an address and freeze the USDC held there, which no one can do with bitcoin. Second, the USDC lives on Ethereum, a different network with its own rules for addresses and fees.

    Sending the bitcoin

Send native BTC on the Bitcoin network, in one transaction, to the deposit address on your order page. The fee depends on the size of the transaction, not the amount. A fee rate set too low can leave the deposit waiting, and on a floating quote the USDC amount keeps moving while it waits. If the deposit is stuck, raise the fee with replace-by-fee if your wallet offers it, and never send a second payment to the same order. Our Bitcoin (BTC) coin page covers address types and fees.

    The Ethereum address you give

Paste a 0x address from a wallet that shows Ethereum tokens. A Bitcoin address cannot receive USDC. The payout is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum mainnet, so USDC on Solana, Base or another network is not the same balance.

You need no ETH to receive the USDC. You do need ETH to move it later, because every Ethereum transaction, token transfers included, pays its gas in ETH. Our Ethereum (ETH) coin page explains gas. If you would rather hold a dollar token on Tron, see BTC to USDT (TRC-20).

Between the deposit and the payout, your BTC is no longer in your wallet. It waits at the deposit address of your order until the USDC is sent. If a swap cannot finish, the refund is BTC, and it goes to the Bitcoin address the BTC came from.

Sending BTC and receiving USDC (ERC-20)

    Sending BTC (Bitcoin)

Send native BTC on the Bitcoin network, in one transaction, to the deposit address of your order. Bitcoin payments cannot be reversed, so check the address before you confirm. The fee depends on the transaction size, not the amount.

    • Choose a fee rate that fits the current demand for block space. With a low fee rate your deposit can wait a long time, and a floating quote can change while it waits.
    • If the deposit is stuck, raise the fee with replace-by-fee if your wallet offers it, and keep the same deposit address and amount. CPFP works only if the stuck payment sent change back to your wallet. Do not send a second payment to the same order.

    Receiving USDC (ERC-20)

You receive USDC at an Ethereum address that starts with 0x and has 42 characters. It arrives as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum mainnet. You need no ETH to receive it, but you will need ETH to send it later.

    • Paste the full 0x address from a wallet you control, with Ethereum mainnet selected.
    • Add some ETH to the address if you plan to move the USDC later. Gas is paid in ETH, not in USDC.

    BTC to USDC (ERC-20) questions

How do I swap BTC to USDC?

Choose BTC as the coin you send and USDC (ERC-20) as the coin you get. Enter the 0x address that should get the USDC and the Bitcoin address you send from. Then send native BTC to the deposit address on your order page, in one transaction. The USDC is sent once your deposit is credited.

Can I swap BTC to USDC without KYC?

Yes. You can start this swap with no account, no email and no ID. With no profile to sign in to, the link to your order page is how you get back to your swap, so save it when the order opens.

Why do I need ETH after the swap?

The USDC arrives as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, and every Ethereum transaction pays its gas in ETH. You need no ETH to receive the USDC, but an address with USDC and no ETH cannot send it. Add some ETH before you plan to move it.

USDC or USDT: which one should I pick?

Both are tokens pegged to the US dollar, from different issuers. Circle issues USDC and Tether issues USDT, and each can freeze its token at an address. Pick the one the wallet, app or person you deal with next accepts, on the network they use.

Is the payout USDC on Ethereum or on another network?

On Ethereum mainnet, as an ERC-20 token at a 0x address. USDC on Solana, Base or BNB Smart Chain is a separate balance on a separate network. If the USDC does not show, switch your wallet to Ethereum mainnet and add the token with Circle's contract.

My BTC deposit is not confirming. What can I do?

If your wallet offers replace-by-fee, raise the fee and keep the same deposit address and amount. Do not send a second payment to the same order. On a floating quote, the USDC amount is set when the deposit confirms.

How long does a BTC to USDC swap take?

Most of the wait is on the Bitcoin side. A Bitcoin block comes about every 10 minutes on average, but the time varies, and your deposit is credited after enough confirmations. An Ethereum block can come every 12 seconds, so the payout needs less waiting once it is sent.

Is the USDC amount fixed when I start the order?

Only on a fixed quote, and only for the exact amount shown, sent before the deadline on your order page. On a floating quote, the USDC amount follows the market until your deposit confirms. The payout fee in USDC is shown before you swap.
