Before you swap
Check that the payout address comes from your Bitcoin wallet. A Litecoin address that starts with 3 looks the same as a Bitcoin one. If your LTC sits in MWEB, move it to a standard address first. Deposited LTC stays at the address your order gives you until the BTC is sent.

Why people swap Litecoin to Bitcoin
Why people move LTC into BTC
Litecoin is based on Bitcoin’s design, with a new block about every 2.5 minutes instead of every 10. Some people take payments in LTC or keep a balance there, then move part of it into bitcoin to hold it in a Bitcoin wallet, or to pay someone who takes only BTC. After the swap, the part you moved follows the bitcoin price, not the litecoin price.
Privacy options change as well. Litecoin has MWEB, an optional layer that hides amounts. Bitcoin payments stay visible on the Bitcoin chain, so a new receive address keeps the payout apart from your older activity. Our Litecoin (LTC) coin page explains MWEB. If your LTC sits there, move it to a standard address in your own wallet first, and wait for 6 confirmations before you send the deposit.
Two sets of look-alike addresses
Litecoin’s addresses follow Bitcoin’s patterns. Where a Bitcoin address starts with bc1, a Litecoin one starts with ltc1, and where Bitcoin uses 1 for its oldest type, Litecoin uses L. One format is shared outright. Litecoin still accepts old addresses that start with 3, which is also a Bitcoin format.
This swap asks for addresses on both chains. The payout address must come from your Bitcoin wallet. The sending address, if you add it, must come from your Litecoin wallet. The form checks the format only, so a Litecoin address that starts with 3 passes as a Bitcoin payout address. With a bc1q address for the payout, that question does not come up.
Sending the LTC
Litecoin charges its fee by the size of a transaction, not by the amount. If your LTC came in as many small payments, a deposit that gathers several of them is larger and pays more. Use your wallet’s normal fee setting.
A Litecoin block comes about every 2.5 minutes, and your order page shows when the deposit is credited. The BTC payout then goes out on Bitcoin, where blocks come every 10 minutes on average, at random gaps. Until the BTC is sent, you have no control over the LTC you deposited. On a floating quote, the BTC amount can move until your deposit confirms.
Sending LTC and receiving BTC
Sending LTC (Litecoin)
Send native LTC on the Litecoin network from a wallet you control. Send the amount shown for your swap to the deposit address made for your order. Your new coins are sent after the deposit is credited.
- Use the normal fee setting in your wallet. The fee depends on the size of the transaction, and a fee set too low can leave the payment waiting for a long time.
- If your LTC sits in MWEB, move it to a standard address in your own wallet first. Coins that leave MWEB can be spent only after 6 confirmations. Support for deposits sent straight from MWEB is not confirmed.
Receiving BTC (Bitcoin)
Give a Bitcoin address from a wallet you control. It can start with 1, 3, bc1q or bc1p. A BTC payout does not use a memo or tag, so the address is all you need. Your BTC arrives on the Bitcoin network only.
- Paste the full address and check every character. The form checks the format only. It cannot tell whether the address belongs to you.
- Your wallet may show the payment as unconfirmed at first. A new block comes about every 10 minutes on average, but the time varies.
LTC to BTC questions
How do I convert LTC to BTC?
Choose LTC as the coin you send and BTC as the coin you get. Paste a Bitcoin address from your own wallet and the Litecoin address you send from. Then send native LTC on the Litecoin network to the deposit address on your order page, in one transaction.
Can I convert Litecoin to Bitcoin without KYC?
Yes. You need no account, email or ID. A Bitcoin payout address and your LTC deposit are enough, and the order ID lets you follow each step. Swap records hold no name and no IP address.
My payout address starts with 3. Is it a Bitcoin address?
It may not be. Bitcoin and Litecoin both have addresses that start with 3, in the same format, so the form cannot tell them apart. Check that the address came from your Bitcoin wallet. An address that starts with bc1q removes the doubt.
Can a refund go to a Bitcoin address?
No. A refund is paid in LTC on the Litecoin network, so it goes to the Litecoin address the coins came from. That address starts with ltc1q, L or M. Coins on an exchange? Withdraw them to your own Litecoin wallet first.
Why is the network fee on my LTC deposit higher than usual?
Litecoin fees follow the size of the transaction in virtual bytes, not the amount. A wallet that holds many small received amounts has to combine several of them, and that makes the deposit larger. Use the normal fee setting. A fee set too low can leave the deposit waiting for a long time.
How long does an LTC to BTC swap take?
A Litecoin block comes about every 2.5 minutes on average, and your deposit is credited once enough of them have confirmed it. The BTC payout then waits for Bitcoin blocks, which come about every 10 minutes on average. Your wallet may show it as unconfirmed at first.
How do I keep the BTC payout apart from my other payments?
Use a new receive address. The payout is a normal Bitcoin transaction, and Bitcoin payments stay visible on block explorers, so a fresh address keeps it apart from your other payments.
