Litecoin (LTC) is a proof-of-work coin that launched in October 2011. A new block comes about every 2.5 minutes, and the supply is capped at 84 million LTC. On HiddenSwap you can swap LTC to or from other coins without an account. You send LTC from your wallet, and the new coins go to the address you give. For LTC, use a standard address that starts with ltc1, L or M. MWEB addresses start with ltcmweb1 and belong to an optional layer. Do not use one for a swap payout unless support is confirmed.

Rate before the payout fee: 1 LTC ≈ 53.2576 USDT (TRC-20), our calculation from a 1 LTC quote on 17 Sep 2026, 18:15 UTC. Not a market price.

    What Litecoin is

Litecoin is a proof-of-work cryptocurrency. Charlie Lee announced it in October 2011. It is based on Bitcoin’s design, but some core rules differ. A new block comes about every 2.5 minutes, where Bitcoin aims for 10 minutes. The supply is capped at 84 million LTC. The block reward halves every 840,000 blocks, which is about every four years. Mining uses the Scrypt algorithm.

Like Bitcoin, Litecoin tracks coins as separate outputs, and each payment spends some of them. The network fee is paid in LTC. It depends on the size of the transaction, not on the amount you send. SegWit went live on Litecoin in May 2017. Litecoin has no memo or tag field, so you never need one to send or receive LTC.

Litecoin addresses and which one to use

A Litecoin address comes in one of these formats:

    • ltc1: native SegWit addresses start with ltc1q. Taproot addresses start with ltc1p, but the swap form does not accept them for a payout. Wallets write both in lowercase. Litecoin Core creates ltc1q addresses by default.
    • L: legacy addresses, the oldest format.
    • M: P2SH addresses. Wallets also use them for SegWit wrapped in P2SH.
    • 3: an older P2SH format that Litecoin still accepts.
    • ltcmweb1: MWEB addresses. See the next section.

For a swap, use an ltc1q, L or M address from a wallet you control. Each format has a checksum, so a wallet rejects most typing mistakes. Still check the whole address after you paste it.

Take care with addresses that start with 3. Litecoin Core accepts this old format, but the Litecoin developer guide advises wallet developers not to keep using it. A Bitcoin address that starts with 3 looks exactly the same. If you only have a 3 address, check that your Litecoin wallet created it.

Test network addresses start with tltc1, m, n, Q or 2. Testnet LTC has no value, so never use a testnet address for a swap.

    MWEB, the optional privacy layer

MWEB stands for Mimblewimble Extension Blocks. It went live on Litecoin on 20 May 2022 as a soft fork. MWEB runs next to the main chain. Coins move into it with a peg-in and back out with a peg-out.

Inside MWEB, the amount of a transaction is known only to the sender and the receiver. The balance of an MWEB address is not shown on the public chain. MWEB uses stealth addresses, so the receiver does not need to be online to get a payment. Standard Litecoin transactions stay public, like Bitcoin transactions. When coins move into or out of MWEB, that step can be seen on the main chain. MWEB gives partial privacy. It is not the same as a coin that is private by default, such as Monero.

MWEB is opt in. Wallets and services can choose whether to support it. An MWEB address starts with ltcmweb1 and is about three times as long as an ltc1q address. It is not a regular Litecoin address. The swap form does not accept MWEB addresses, so give a standard ltc1q, L or M address for a payout. If you want your coins in MWEB, receive them at a standard address first. Then move them into MWEB with a wallet that supports it, such as Litecoin Core.

Coins that leave MWEB can be spent only after the peg-out has 6 confirmations. If your LTC sits in MWEB, move it to a standard address and wait for those confirmations before you send a swap deposit.

MWEB is newer code than the main chain. In March 2026, developers found that an attacker had used a bug to create extra LTC through MWEB. The coins were frozen and recovered. In April 2026, a second attempt produced 13 invalid blocks, and the network removed them in a reorganization. Developers asked users to run Litecoin Core 0.21.5.4 or later, and later releases added more MWEB checks.

    Before you swap LTC

    • Send native LTC on the Litecoin network. An LTC token on another network is not the same coin.
    • Your deposit goes to an address controlled by our liquidity partner until your new coins are sent. Our partner decides when your deposit is credited. The status page shows the progress.
    • A floating quote can change before your deposit confirms. A swap can also be held for checks. Read how screening works before you send.
    • If you want to move from Litecoin to Monero, see the LTC to XMR swap. To get LTC from Monero, see the XMR to LTC swap.

    Recent Litecoin context

    1. Litecoin Core 0.21.5.8 was released with more MWEB validation fixes. The release notes strongly recommend that all users upgrade.

    2. Litecoin developers published a report on two MWEB incidents from March and April 2026. In March, an attacker had used a bug to create extra LTC through MWEB. The coins were frozen and recovered. In April, a second attempt produced 13 invalid blocks, and the network removed them in a reorganization. Developers asked users to run Litecoin Core 0.21.5.4 or later.

    3. MWEB went live on the Litecoin network as a soft fork. It is optional. Wallets and services can choose whether to support it.

    Sending and receiving LTC

    LTC (Litecoin)

Send native LTC on the Litecoin network from a wallet you control. Send the amount shown for your swap to the deposit address. The deposit goes to an address controlled by our liquidity partner until your new coins are sent. You receive LTC on the Litecoin network. Give a standard Litecoin address from a wallet you control. The payout is a normal transaction on the main chain, so any Litecoin wallet or block explorer can show it.

    • Choose the Litecoin network. Some platforms also list an LTC token on another network. That token is not native LTC, and this swap takes native LTC only.
    • Paste the deposit address, then check the whole address against your order page. Litecoin has no memo or tag, so you do not need one.
    • Use the normal fee setting in your wallet. The fee depends on the size of the transaction, and a fee set too low can leave the payment waiting for a long time.
    • If you send from an exchange account, a refund to the sending address may not reach you. Give a refund address that you control.
    • If your LTC sits in MWEB, move it to a standard address in your own wallet first. Coins that leave MWEB can be spent only after 6 confirmations. Support for deposits sent straight from MWEB is not confirmed.
    • Use an address that starts with ltc1q, L or M. Litecoin Core creates ltc1q addresses by default.
    • Do not give an MWEB address (ltcmweb1) or a Taproot address (ltc1p). The swap form does not accept them. You can move the coins into MWEB yourself after they arrive.
    • An old address that starts with 3 still works on Litecoin, but Bitcoin uses the same format. Make sure a 3 address came from your Litecoin wallet, or use an ltc1q or M address instead.
    • No memo or tag is needed to receive LTC.
    • Litecoin Core shows a payment as confirming until it has 6 confirmations. A new block comes about every 2.5 minutes, so this takes about 15 minutes on average.
    • If the coins do not show yet, let your wallet finish syncing and look up the payout transaction on a Litecoin block explorer. If you still cannot find it, contact support with your order ID.

    Litecoin questions

    What does LTC stand for?

LTC is the ticker symbol for Litecoin. You see it in wallets, on block explorers and in swap forms. On HiddenSwap, LTC means native Litecoin on the Litecoin network.

    What is Litecoin used for?

Litecoin is a digital currency. The Litecoin Foundation describes it as built for everyday use, such as payments. A new block comes about every 2.5 minutes, so on average a payment gets its first confirmation sooner than on Bitcoin.

How is Litecoin different from Bitcoin?

Litecoin is based on Bitcoin's design, but some rules differ. Blocks come about every 2.5 minutes instead of every 10 minutes. The supply cap is 84 million coins instead of 21 million. Mining uses Scrypt instead of SHA-256. Litecoin also has MWEB, an optional layer that hides amounts.

How long does a Litecoin transfer take?

A new Litecoin block comes about every 2.5 minutes on average. Litecoin Core shows a payment as confirming until it has 6 confirmations, which takes about 15 minutes on average. A swap takes longer than one transfer, because your deposit must confirm before the new coins are sent. Our partner decides when your deposit is credited. The status page shows the progress.

Which Litecoin address should I use?

Use a standard address from a wallet you control. It starts with ltc1q, L or M. Litecoin Core creates ltc1q addresses by default. Old addresses that start with 3 still work, but Bitcoin uses the same format, so check that the address came from your Litecoin wallet. The swap form does not accept MWEB addresses (ltcmweb1) or Taproot addresses (ltc1p).

    Is Litecoin private?

Not by default. Standard Litecoin transactions are public, like Bitcoin transactions. MWEB is an optional layer where amounts are known only to the sender and the receiver. Coins that move into or out of MWEB can still be seen on the main chain, so MWEB gives partial privacy.

Can I receive swapped LTC at an MWEB address?

No. The swap form does not accept MWEB addresses, which start with ltcmweb1. Use a standard ltc1q, L or M address for the payout. If you want your coins in MWEB, receive them at a standard address first. Then move them into MWEB with a wallet that supports it.

Can I send LTC from MWEB to a swap deposit address?

Support for deposits sent straight from MWEB is not confirmed. Move the coins to a standard address in your own wallet first. Coins that leave MWEB can be spent only after 6 confirmations, which takes about 15 minutes on average. Then send the deposit from that address.

How can I get Litecoin without KYC?

You can swap another coin, such as Bitcoin or Monero, to LTC on HiddenSwap. You do not need an account, an email or an ID to start. You choose the pair, give your Litecoin address and send the deposit. In some cases a swap can be held for checks.
