Why people swap Ethereum to Litecoin
Why people move ether into Litecoin
Some people hold ether and want part of it in a coin meant for payments. The Litecoin Foundation describes Litecoin as built for everyday use, and a new Litecoin block comes about every 2.5 minutes. Others want LTC so they can use MWEB, the optional Litecoin layer where amounts are known only to the sender and the receiver. One wallet, two kinds of address
Many wallets show ETH and LTC side by side. Your 0x address cannot take LTC, so open the Litecoin account in your wallet and copy the address from there. It should start with ltc1q, L or M. An ltc1q address is written in small letters, and every Litecoin format has its own checksum, so a wallet rejects most typing mistakes.
Two Litecoin formats do not work as a payout. The form refuses MWEB addresses, which start with ltcmweb1, and Taproot addresses, which start with ltc1p. If you want the coins in MWEB, take the payout at a standard address and move them in later with a wallet that supports MWEB.
Paying out to an exchange account? Its deposit page must say LTC on the Litecoin network. An LTC token listed on another network is not native LTC.
Gas on the way in, fees by size on the way out
The deposit is an Ethereum transaction, so it pays gas in ETH on top of the amount you swap. Leave some ether behind. Send native ETH on Ethereum mainnet as one plain transfer from a regular wallet. Litecoin works differently. Its fee follows the size of a transaction in virtual bytes, not the amount. So when you later spend LTC that arrived in many separate payouts, the payment gets larger and costs more.
Timing and control
Ethereum adds a block every 12 seconds, and a block is final after about 15 minutes. Your order page shows when the deposit is credited. The LTC then moves in steps of about 2.5 minutes, and your wallet shows it as confirming until it has 6 confirmations. From the deposit until the LTC is sent, you cannot move the ether. On a floating quote, the LTC amount can change until your deposit confirms.
Sending ETH and receiving LTC
Sending ETH (Ethereum)
Send ETH on Ethereum mainnet, in one transaction, to the deposit address of your order. Check the network in your wallet first. The same 0x address also exists on layer 2 networks, but those are different networks.
- Choose Ethereum mainnet in your wallet or exchange. Do not pick a layer 2 network, even if the address looks the same.
- Send a plain transfer from a regular wallet. Deposits sent from smart contracts, including batched transfers, are not processed automatically.
Receiving LTC (Litecoin)
You receive LTC on the Litecoin network. Give a standard Litecoin address from a wallet you control. The payout is a normal transaction on the main chain, so any Litecoin wallet or block explorer can show it.
- Do not give an MWEB address (ltcmweb1) or a Taproot address (ltc1p). The swap form does not accept them. You can move the coins into MWEB yourself after they arrive.
- An old address that starts with 3 still works on Litecoin, but Bitcoin uses the same format. Make sure a 3 address came from your Litecoin wallet, or use an ltc1q or M address instead.

How do I convert ETH to LTC?
Pick ETH as the coin you send and LTC as the coin you get. Paste a standard Litecoin address from your own wallet, and the 0x address you send from. Then send native ETH on Ethereum mainnet to the deposit address on your order page, as one plain transfer from a regular wallet.
Can I convert Ethereum to Litecoin without KYC?
Yes. There is no account, email or ID to give. You enter a Litecoin payout address, send the ETH and follow the order by its ID. A fresh Litecoin address for the payout keeps the LTC apart from your older payments.
Can the LTC go to my 0x address?
No. A 0x address belongs to Ethereum and other EVM networks. Litecoin uses its own address formats, and the payout is sent on the Litecoin network. Open the Litecoin side of your wallet and copy the address shown there.
Which Litecoin address should I paste?
One that starts with ltc1q, L or M. Litecoin Core creates ltc1q addresses by default. The form does not take MWEB addresses (ltcmweb1) or Taproot addresses (ltc1p). An old 3 address works on Litecoin, but Bitcoin uses the same format, so make sure it came from your Litecoin wallet.
My ETH is on a layer 2 network or held as WETH. Can I swap it to LTC?
Not as it is. This swap takes native ETH on Ethereum mainnet only. ETH on a layer 2 network is a balance on that network, and WETH is an ERC-20 token. Move the ETH to mainnet, or unwrap the WETH, before you start.
Why do I need more ETH than the amount I swap?
The deposit is an Ethereum transaction, and its gas is paid in ETH on top of the amount you send. If the wallet holds only the swap amount, the transfer cannot go out. Keep a little ETH aside.
