Zcash can hide your address. Tron cannot, so the USDT payout and every later move of it show on the chain. Give a Tron address with no past activity, and paste the Zcash address you send from as the sending address. Once sent, the ZEC waits at the deposit address of your order until the USDT goes out.

Why people swap Zcash to Tether on Tron

From optional privacy to a public dollar token

People swap ZEC to USDT when they want part of a Zcash balance to hold a US dollar value, or when the next wallet or person they pay takes USDT on Tron. Tether pegs USDT to the dollar and can freeze it, as our Tether (USDT) coin page explains. ZEC has no issuer, so this is a real change in who can act on your coins.

Privacy changes too. In Zcash you choose it, and a payment between shielded addresses hides the sender, the receiver and the amount. Our Zcash (ZEC) coin page explains the pools. USDT on Tron has nothing like that. The payout, the balance and each later transfer stay readable on Tronscan.

    What each chain shows

Start with the deposit address on your order page. If it begins with t1 or t3, it is transparent, and the amount it receives is public. Pay it from your shielded balance and your own address stays out of view. Pay it from a transparent address and that address shows too, with everything it did before.

ZEC still in the old Orchard pool needs care. Each exit from Orchard is public. Paid straight to the deposit address, that exit amount equals the swap amount, which makes the two easy to match. ZIP 318, a draft wallet guide, describes moving Orchard funds into Ironwood in several standard amounts over time. Let an updated wallet do that well before the swap, then pay from Ironwood.

On the Tron side, give a T address with no past activity. It keeps the payout apart from the transfers people already tie to you. To move the USDT later, the address needs TRX for energy and bandwidth, and receiving USDT does not activate it. Our guide to both USDT networks explains these fees. Fund that TRX from an address that is not linked to you.

    Before you send

Update your wallet first. Since the Ironwood upgrade on 28 July 2026, transactions made under the old rules are no longer valid. Paste the Zcash address you send from as the sending address. Between the deposit and the payout, the ZEC is out of your hands. On a floating quote, the USDT amount stays open until your deposit confirms. If the swap cannot finish, the refund returns as ZEC, not USDT.

Sending ZEC and receiving USDT (TRC-20)

    Sending ZEC (Zcash)

Send ZEC on the Zcash network, in one transaction, to the deposit address of your order. Zcash has transparent and shielded addresses. Check which type the deposit address is and which pool your ZEC sits in, because both decide what the chain shows about your payment.

    • If the deposit address is transparent, the amount you send is public, even when your wallet pays it from a shielded balance.
    • If some of your ZEC is still in the old Orchard pool, any amount that leaves it is public, even when it goes to a shielded address. Let a wallet with Ironwood support move it to Ironwood before you pay from it.

    Receiving USDT (TRC-20)

You receive USDT (TRC-20) at a Tron address that starts with T. Use an address from a wallet that shows Tron tokens. Tron transfers have no memo field, so none is needed. The sender pays the transfer cost, so you need no TRX to receive USDT. You will need TRX to send it later.

    • Add some TRX to the receiving address if you plan to move the USDT later. A new Tron address becomes active when it receives TRX or a TRC-10 token. USDT is a TRC-20 token, so send TRX to the address as well.
    • If the payout shows on Tronscan but not in your wallet, check that your wallet shows TRC-20 tokens and lists USDT with the contract Tether publishes.

    ZEC to USDT (TRC-20) questions

Questions about Zcash itself, such as legality and delistings, are answered in our Zcash (ZEC) coin guide

How do I swap Zcash to USDT on Tron?

Choose ZEC as the coin you send and USDT (TRC-20) as the coin you get. Paste a Tron address that starts with T for the payout, and the Zcash address you send from. Then send ZEC in one transaction to the deposit address on your order page.

Can I exchange ZEC to USDT with no KYC?

Yes. You need no account, email or ID. You give a Tron address and send ZEC from your own wallet. Swap records keep no name and no IP address.

Is the USDT payout as private as shielded ZEC?

No. USDT on Tron has no shielded pool. Anyone can open an explorer such as Tronscan and read a Tron address, its USDT balance and every transfer from it. A Tron address with no past activity keeps the payout apart from transfers people already link to you.

Does the deposit show how much ZEC I swapped?

If the deposit address starts with t1 or t3, it is transparent, so yes. The amount it receives is public, even when your wallet pays it from a shielded balance. Paying from the shielded balance still keeps your own Zcash address out of view.

Can I pay straight from ZEC that is still in the Orchard pool?

It works, but the exit amount is public and matches your deposit. Since the Ironwood upgrade, coins can leave Orchard only into Ironwood or to a transparent address. ZIP 318, a draft wallet guide, describes a private option that moves Orchard funds to Ironwood in several standard amounts over time. Let an updated wallet do that first.

Can Tether freeze the USDT I get from this swap?

Yes. ZEC has no issuer, but USDT does. Tether's terms allow it to freeze Tether tokens and to blacklist addresses that hold them. That applies to every USDT, including a payout from this swap.

Where does the refund go if the swap cannot finish?

It is paid in ZEC on the Zcash network, never in USDT, so your Tron address cannot receive it. It goes to the address the coins came from, or to a refund address support adds by order ID. A refund to a transparent address shows on the chain.

How long does ZEC to USDT take?

Zcash blocks target 75 seconds. A draft wallet guide recommends 10 confirmations before spending ZEC received from others, but each service sets its own count. The USDT then goes out on Tron, where a block is final after about one minute. Your order page shows each step.
